Ivel Model Aircraft Club
Model Aircraft Flying near Bedford UK
Our members are mainly from Bedfordshire and West Cambridgeshire
About Us
Ivel Model Aircraft Club (Ivel MAC) was founded
by Radio Control (RC) model aircraft enthusiasts in
1968 to bring together like-minded modellers to
fly their RC model aircraft, have fun and talk about
aircraft modelling. It affords an opportunity to
meet new friends and get involved in this exciting
and satisfying hobby.
The Object of the Club is to provide
members with facilities for all activities
associated with, the flying of radio controlled
model aircraft through club ownership of the
freehold, or long lease of a permanent model
flying site.
The Aim of the club is to: offer advice and
flying instruction, to members and
prospective members of the club, and to
promote the construction and flying of model
aircraft in the local area.
Although the club has been in existence since 1968
a founder member and very early member, still
comes along occasionally. So you could say they
know a thing or two about flying RC aircraft.
Ivel MAC is affiliated to the BMFA. This means that
all members of the club are required to be
members of the BMFA. In addition, our club does
not permit members to fly unsupervised until they
have at least the BMFA “A” Certificate.
The club has the enviable reputation of being one
of the friendliest RC flying clubs around. It includes
members, young and old, from all walks of life who
enjoy spending time together flying RC models,
meeting new people, making new friends and
helping new and experienced flyers.
We have several instructors who are able to
provide individual coaching 7 days a week
(weather and instructor availability permitting). We
have BFMA Registered Examiners within the club,
so we are able to put flyers through the BMFA
achievement tests (A or B) without the fuss or need
to call in an external, unfamiliar BMFA examiner.
This puts us in an enviable and unique position
compared to model clubs in the area who do not
have this valuable facility.
Our instructors use Spektrum radios for teaching
students.
Currently we do not offer training for
helicopter or quadcopter flying.
We’re always happy to welcome new members to
our club. If you would like to know more, or get in
contact with the club, please go to the contact
page and fill in the contact form. The membership
costs are also shown there.
Who knows - you could be flying your own model
aircraft before you know it!
